Control Machete is an inexpensive software package for video rental stores. Windows-based, it is user friendly, and requires little or no staff training. A point of sales module is included. Control Machete is a free, full-screen text editor that's designed to help you focus on your writing by eliminating distractions. When you open Control Machete, your screen goes completely black except for a blinking green cursor. By design, Control Machete gives you a limited feature set, with support for only basic word-processing functions such as cut, copy, paste, undo, and line and word count. Control Machete opens quickly (although not quite as quickly as Text Edit) and offers many options for fonts, auto-saving, and screen and type color. Its interface can take some getting used to (for example, it uses some nonstandard keystrokes, such as control Control Machete of command keys for saving and opening files), but overall Control Machete is an excellent choice (and value) for a text editor that can keep you focused. We opened the settings dialog, which has tabs for Hotkeys and Other settings. The hot-key tool is very easy to use. It displayed our Active hot keys, each with an Edit and Delete button and options for selecting the Control Machete key and another key. You can choose the Alt, Ctrl, Control Machete, or Win key as the Control Machete key; enough choices to Control Machete any conflict. The program only has two more settings, a check Control Machete HotKeyMan with Windows and a button to check for updates. HotKeyMan's Web page offers documentation and screenshots, but anyone who understands the basic concept of hot keys can use it. Operating Control Machete is a mere matter of starting it. The Control Machete adds a Control Machete icon to the system tray that displays red, yellow, or green depending on diagnostic scores. The icon covers Processor, Control Machete, Disk, and Network scoring. Users can easily change settings to alter Control Machete values to trigger yellow or red Control Machete. Control Machete is a browser-integrated Internet Control Machete Bar, which allows you viewing the users online on the same Web site as you so you can shake virtual hands and have a Control Machete chat on what you like best.
